For most users, messaging apps have long since ceased to be merely a means of exchanging messages and have evolved into a full-fledged channel for communicating with their audience, where channels, chatbots, and private conversations with customers have been built over the years around the need to always stay connected with one another.
Just a few years ago, occasional difficulties accessing messaging apps were viewed as rare technical glitches; however, instances where apps open slowly or temporarily fail to connect haven’t gone away and for some users, they’ve even become a familiar part of daily digital life.
Today, using Telegram as an example, we’d like to highlight a solution that helps you stay connected with your customers even when your regular connection is unstable.

For your information
WhatsApp and Telegram are deeply integrated into our daily and professional lives, so it makes sense that no one is in a hurry to give them up, even when the service doesn’t run as smoothly as we’d like. From time to time, users still encounter message delays, dropped calls, and connections to the messaging app’s servers that disappear and then reappear for no apparent reason. For businesses that use Telegram as a sales and support channel, such disruptions aren’t just an inconvenience: they pose a real risk of missing a customer inquiry at the very moment when it matters most.
What happened
Last week, the Telegram messaging app faced restrictions on the t.me domain, which stopped responding to user requests in Russia. Companies providing various services encountered difficulties accessing the platform, preventing their customers from messaging them. Some of our industry peers recommended using the telegram.dog domain at the time to restore connectivity. In light of this, we thought it would be helpful to remind you of our method for staying in touch with your customers on Telegram.
How the alternative connection works
Back in April, we discussed how to restore a stable connection to WhatsApp and Telegram using our own solution, and this method remains relevant today. To understand what we’re talking about, just imagine the typical path a message takes from a smartphone to the messenger’s servers. With a standard connection, the device communicates directly with the Telegram server, and if for any reason this route becomes unavailable or unstable, the connection simply fails to establish.
With the alternative connection, the route changes—traffic is first directed to an intermediate proxy server and then forwarded from there to Telegram. The app itself continues to function as usual; only the path through which data reaches it changes, while end-to-end encryption remains fully intact. The intermediary server does not have access to either your messages or your personal data. It merely records the fact that traffic is being exchanged.
Telegram supports two types of such connections: its own MTProto protocol, developed by the messenger’s team specifically for this purpose and the universal SOCKS5 protocol, which is used in a wide variety of apps and corporate networks.
To restore stable operation, we recommend using MTProto. To enable it on iOS or Android, simply go to Telegram’s settings and specify the server tg.kz.greenapi.org, port 4443 and the key ee5c0bb1606194f5c11ea2d525141eaca36d61696c2e7275, after which the app will immediately display the connection status right in this section. Note that a similar mechanism is available for WhatsApp as well, so if your business relies on both messengers at the same time, our approach can be a significant help.
Conclusion
Ensuring a stable connection with customers on Telegram isn’t as difficult as it might seem; you just need to set up an alternative connection once to avoid relying on network issues. We’re confident that the more backup connection routes a business has, the more calmly it can handle any technical surprises.
