How to register phone number on WhatsApp?#

To use the GREEN-API service, you need to have a number registered in WhatsApp.

1. Registration requirements#

To register on WhatsApp you need to meet next requirements:

Make sure you’re using the latest version of WhatsApp installed on your phone.
You can only register a phone number you own.
You need to be able to receive phone calls and SMS to the phone number you are trying to register. You need to disable any call-blocking settings, apps or task killers.
If you wish to use both WhatsApp Business and WhatsApp, you need to use a unique phone number for each app.
You’ll need to use a supported phone number. Unsupported phone numbers can’t be registered on WhatsApp.

VoIP numbers (telephone number operating on an internet connection)
Landline numbers (Note: Landline phone number can only be registered in WhatsApp Business app)
Free access numbers (8-800)
Rooms with paid incoming calls
Universal Access Numbers (UANs)
Virtual numbers

WhatsApp offers two ways to register on its platform: registration via SMS and registration via phone call.

Choose your country from the drop-down list. This will automatically fill your country code on the left.
Enter your full international phone number in the box on the right. Don't put 0 before your phone number
Tap Next to request a code.

WhatsApp usually sends the verification code via SMS or automated voice call from a phone number with the country code for the country you are registering from.
Enter the 6-digit code you receive via SMS.
After registering, add your email address to your account at any time in your WhatsApp Settings > Account > Email Address. This helps you access your account next time you log in.

Tap Voice Call on the registration screen in WhatsApp. You’ll receive a call from WhatsApp.
Answer the call and you’ll get an automated message with a unique code.
Enter the code when prompted to complete registration.
