WhatsApp has improved business chats in latest update.

WhatsApp introduced new tools aimed at companies with large customer bases and active teams. These tools focus on the integration of AI assistants, centralized marketing campaigns, and a new group status feature that simplifies internal communication.

How it will work#

The latest WhatsApp builds are testing the ability to create and publish statuses directly in group chats. Previously, users could mention a group in a status to notify its members; now, updates can be published directly to the entire group, without unnecessary notifications or privacy restrictions.

Two new shortcuts will appear in the group information card: these allow you to quickly create a status—text, multimedia, or music. After selecting the content, the audience is automatically limited to members of the specific group. This status is visible to all members, even if their numbers are not saved in each other's contacts.

Group statuses appear in the Updates section, as well as in the chat list under the group icon or in the group details. This makes the format familiar and interaction as simple as possible. All group status posts are end-to-end encrypted, and only members of the specific chat can access them.

Why it is needed#

The main goal of the new feature is to make collaboration and communication within teams more convenient and secure. Companies will be able to use group statuses for immediate announcements, campaign updates, or meeting reminders without creating separate messaging campaigns.

This approach eliminates the need to manually notify chat participants or duplicate information across multiple groups. Every update instantly reaches all team members, even if some of them are not added to the others' contacts. This is especially relevant for large departments, partner networks, and businesses with branches.

WhatsApp is also expanding its corporate calling features, including centralized conference management and AI support integration for processing requests and summarizing conversations. These tools are especially useful for companies that actively use WhatsApp as a customer service and internal communications channel.

Availability#

The ability to create and share statuses in groups is currently in testing on Android and iOS. Advanced calling tools and AI integration are in early testing, but are expected to be rolled out in 2026.

WhatsApp continues to strengthen its position as a universal platform for communication, support, and business operations within a unified ecosystem.

Conclusion#

Group statuses, centralized calls, and AI assistance are a step toward unifying all forms of communication and reducing the burden on corporate teams. These updates confirm the company's commitment to transforming WhatsApp into a fully-fledged business communications tool.
