WhatsApp developers continue to add interactive tools that make communication within groups and channels more vibrant. One of these new features will be the "Question" feature—a convenient way to gather opinions and suggestions from participants right within the app.

How it will work#

The "Question" feature will appear in the chat attachment menu and will be available to group and channel administrators. After selecting this option, administrators will be able to write a question and share it like a regular message. Any group member or channel subscriber will be able to immediately respond directly in the chat.

All responses will be collected in one place—under the original question message. Administrators will be able to view responses, analyze opinions, and quickly receive feedback from their audience. Deleting a question will also remove all related responses, helping keep discussions clear and relevant.

Why it is needed#

"Question" simplifies interaction between administrators and subscribers. Now you can quickly ask your audience about the topic of your next post, ask about their preferences, gauge interest in events, or simply chat with subscribers, creating a sense of community.

This feature is especially useful for local or thematic channels: for example, a news channel administrator can learn what topics are of interest to residents of a particular area and tailor content to their needs. This makes communication less one-sided and increases audience engagement.

Accessibility#

The feature is currently in active development for iOS and is currently available to a limited number of beta testers. WhatsApp plans to expand testing and add support for other platforms in upcoming updates. Details about the launch and additional features may be released soon.
