Smart Suggestions for Stickers#
WhatsApp is rolling out a feature that suggests stickers as you type.
How it will work#
Smart sticker suggestions have been added to chats. When you start typing emoji, a panel with matching stickers automatically appears above the keyboard. To send a sticker, simply tap the suggestion without opening the full sticker keyboard. The system uses the emoji that were associated with the stickers when they were created. You can manage suggestions in Settings - Chats.
Why it works#
This feature allows you to instantly respond with stickers in a conversation without wasting time searching through numerous packs. This makes conversations more lively and dynamic, especially if you have a large sticker collection.
Status#
The feature is gradually being rolled out to beta testers on Android and is being rolled out to more and more users.
Updated About section#
WhatsApp has announced a revamped About section designed to make sharing statuses more relevant, expressive, and useful.
How it will work#
The About section has been completely revamped. Your status message now appears as a small bubble under your profile photo in individual chats, making it more noticeable. The key new feature is the ability to set an auto-delete timer for your status (from a few hours to a month), as well as add emojis to the text for added impact.
Why it's needed#
To share relevant and timely updates that automatically disappear when no longer relevant (for example, "Meeting with a client" or "On vacation"). This removes outdated information from your profile and helps contacts better understand your current availability.
Status#
The update was officially announced by WhatsApp and is rolling out to all users on mobile devices this week.
Multiple Accounts in One App#
WhatsApp is rolling out a feature that allows users to manage multiple accounts and use them on a single device.
How it will work#
WhatsApp has begun rolling out native support for multiple accounts. You can now add a second phone number to the app and switch between accounts directly from the Settings section. Each account is completely isolated, with its own chat history, notification settings, and privacy options.
Why it's needed#
This feature is ideal for separating personal and work messages without having to use two phones or resorting to WhatsApp Business as a workaround. This ensures order and privacy.
Status#
This feature is in early testing and is available to a limited number of beta testers on iOS.
Channel Analytics#
WhatsApp is rolling out a feature allowing channel administrators to manage activity notification settings.
How it will work#
An analytics system is now available to channel owners. The update introduces two types of notifications: subscriber activity (new subscriptions, reactions) and co-owner activity (when another administrator publishes a post or reacts to an update). Large channels benefit from a "smart" system—notifications about reactions are only sent when a certain threshold is reached (e.g., 20, 50, or 100).
Why it's needed#
To enable administrators to better understand their audience, track channel growth, and coordinate with their team without having to manually monitor their channel.
Status#
The channel activity notification management feature is currently being tested in the iOS beta version.
AI Chatbot Widget#
WhatsApp is introducing a widget-based feature for accessing its AI chatbot.
How it works#
You can now add a widget to your smartphone's home screen that provides quick access to a chat with the AI assistant, allowing you to ask questions, share photos for analysis, and initiate voice interactions with a single tap. The widget is scalable to suit your needs.
Why it's needed#
To simplify and speed up access to Meta's AI capabilities for everyday tasks without opening the WhatsApp app.
Status#
This feature is currently being tested in the Android beta version.
Beta Access#
WhatsApp is working on a feature that will allow a limited group of users to access the beta version.
How it will work#
WhatsApp is developing a new beta testing access system for Android. In the future, some users of the stable version will be able to switch to the beta version directly in the app settings. This will eliminate the need to register for the program through the Google Play Store, where space is often limited.
Why it's needed#
To expand the circle of testers and give more users the opportunity to try out new features early, which will ultimately help WhatsApp improve the stability of updates.
Status#
This feature is in active development for Android and will be launched in a future update.
Conclusion#
The past week clearly demonstrated that WhatsApp is developing in several key areas: making communication more visual and convenient with stickers and statuses, significantly simplifying digital identity management across multiple accounts, and continuing to invest in developing the platform for creators by improving channel tools.
