WhatsApp is ending support on older iOS: what to do?#

In May 2025, WhatsApp will stop working on iOS versions lower than 15.1. The messenger will stop working on Apple phones: iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus.

What to do?#

For new devices that support updating to iOS 15.1 or higher, update the system: Settings > General > Software Update. If you have an old iPhone without support for iOS 15.1, you must replace the device to continue using WhatsApp.

Why is support being stopped?#

New versions of iOS provide better performance and security. WhatsApp wants to focus on current systems to implement more modern features.

Who will this affect? ​​#

Owners of iPhone 5s, 6, and 6 Plus (the maximum version of iOS is 12.5.7). For devices with support for iOS 15.1, you can update the system. This change does not affect Android users, who will be able to use the application without changes.
